Tom Daggett retired in 2018 following a 45-year career in the Risk Management and Insurance industry. Following college and service in the U.S. Navy, Tom started his insurance career at the Aetna Insurance Company in 1973. Serving in a series of marketing and management positions throughout the West Coast, Tom transitioned to San Francisco Marketing V.P. and General Manager of CIGNA in 1983. Tom then joined Tanner Insurance Brokers, Inc, the predecessor to BB&T-Tanner Insurance Services in 1987. Tom served as President of Tanner Insurance Brokers until its merger with BB&T in 2003. He earned his CPCU designation in 1991.Specializing in large, complex accounts, his combined years of experience enable Tom to provide viable alternatives and solutions to his client’s risk management needs.
Tom served on the California Agency Advisory Council for Safeco, Fireman’s Fund, Atlantic Mutual, One Beacon and St. Paul. He also participated on the National Advisory Council for Atlantic Mutual and served on the Board of Governors for the Insurance Brokers and Agents of the West for two years.
Very active in his community, Tom volunteered numerous hours to the local schools, coached Little League and completed three years as President of the Foothill High School Athletic Boosters. Tom is past ‘Chair’ of the Las Positas College Foundation. He was actively involved in developing the ‘College Bound Scholars’ program that provided mentoring to ‘at risk’ 6th and 7th graders while providing a path to these students for future college entrance. Tom also helped develop the ‘Veterans First’ program at LPC providing returning veterans with counseling and financial services.
Tom was Team Leader for the Sentinels of Freedom, in Pleasanton, Ca., a non profit
organization offering four year ‘Life Scholarships’ to injured service men and omen returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan. Tom was also on the Board and served as past ‘Chair’ for the Amador Valley Historic Society. Currently, Tom serves on the Board of the Meridian Kiwanis Club and volunteers his time as ‘Family Outreach Coordinator’ for Project Recover, an organization dedicated to researching, locating and repatriating our Missing In Action (MIA) Service members.
Tom lives in Star Idaho with his wife of 50 years, Barbara. They have four children and 12 grand children. Golf, reading, travel and Project Recover take up most of his waking hours.
