Joe Anderson, CPCU, AFSB, ARM, CBRM
Joe began his insurance career with Marsh of Boise in 2001 and has enjoyed his 23-year career in risk management and insurance. As founder of Fortify Risk, his desire is to bring his expertise and strategic skills to companies who want to be elite in risk management.
Over the years, he has gravitated to complex and challenging risks, exposures that were hard to insure or manage. When other professionals settled for higher-priced options or less coverage, Joe would not settle there. He pushed forward to improve the core risk function of his clients, build profitable partnerships with insurance companies, and invest in internal and external risk management personnel.
Joe has a broad based experience in risk management. Some of his work includes:
- Challenging Insurance Placements
- Transportation and Supply Chain Risk
- Workers Compensation Strategic Turnarounds
- Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity
- International Exposure and Risk Analysis
- Enterprise Risk Management
- Risk Audits/Exposure Analysis
- Lender Compliance Management
- Contract Review
- Property Valuations
- Loss Control and Safety
- Executive Risk
Joe holds an Accounting and Finance degree from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. He holds designations as follows: Certified Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), and Certified Business Relationship Manager (CBRM). This coursework is roughly equivalent to 15 advanced-degree college courses.
Joe is the founder of Back the Blue Idaho, a state-wide operation to bless the 99% of officers who put their lives on the line every day and promote their stories of sacrifice and heroism. This year his team fed over 430 officers (and some of their families) a smoked meat Christmas Day Dinner in seven shifts over four locations. He has also organized law enforcement appreciation rallies in the past.
He also resourced parts and helped build four “All Idaho” Firearms for the Idaho Department of Commerce to display at SHOT Show, to recruit firearms manufacturers to Idaho. These firearms were then donated each year to the Idaho Governor’s Cup and raised over $146,000 in scholarships for Idaho Students going to Idaho Schools. He conducted these auctions with then Governor Butch Otter.
Joe is a Board Member for the Meridian Kiwanis. He is a published author of encouraging devotionals.
Other charitable interests are the Boys & Girls Club of Ada County, and various non-profits around the area.
Along with his wife Cherish, five children and two labs, Joe and his family enjoy an active lifestyle of outdoors sports, traveling, shooting, hunting, and catering events for 100+ people with smoked meats and scratch-recipe dishes.
